May 4: Nebraska – Land of Lincoln

004And really, really big SUNFLOWERS! Don’t think I have ever seen one this large. Please note pic #2.  Stopped at Scottsbluff  on the Oregon Trail.  Newspaper rock really neat with signatures of weary travelers. Even today ruts from prairie schooners are left in the rock showing the path of the old trail.  Pic#3 and 4 praises the glory of the Pony Express riders and the Indian hazards they encountered along with huge buffalo herds.  Pic #5 shows our supper – only took me about 5 tries before I was able to run over this Ring-necked Pheasant on a back road.  Terrie saw this  Ice Cream cone and had to have it to make our supper complete. Life continues  to be good on the trail……….
