May 6: South Dakota

Breakfast of champions – PANCAKES!!  Need hardy meal to tackle a big day.  Left early am and crossed state line around daybreak.  1st stop to see Wooly Mammoth Exhibit at edge of the Black Hills Natl Forest.  We are glad to leave the grasslands and finally see tall Pines that remind us of Colo.  The bison reclamation project at Windcave Natl Wildlife Area is a tremendous success.  The highlight of the day was the Crazy Horse Monument.  So far the Indians face is 87 feet in length to give you some perspective.  The white marble statue is a scale model replica that lets you005 envision the final product.  007008009020010011029055041057
