Aug. 17: Adios, Kennicott
This blurry picture of a picture is as close as we got to seeing a whale on the trip from Whittier, AK to Bellingham, WA.
Alas, we bid a fond adieu to our little roomette. The picture above is just about the same size as the roomette itself.
This is the beautiful harbor at Bellingham, WA early Saturday morning.
Leaving the hold of the MV Kennicott. “Free at last! Free at last!!”
Here we are getting on another ferry!! Seattle is full of them. This ride won’t last 5 days, however.
While we were on the Kingston Ferry, the Edmonds Ferry passed us. As I said, there are ferries everywhere!
We arrived at my Tom and Gloria’s house in the early afternoon. Tom’s father and my father were brothers. This is a photo of the back of their house which faces the Puget Sound and has views to die for!! Notice the deck on the side?
Gloria loves hanging baskets as much as I do!
This is a close up of one of her many gorgeous hanging baskets.More flowers on the deck with the Puget Sound in the background.View from the back yard.
View from the back yard looking toward Seattle in the background.
Here’s a bunch of loafers and I don’t mean shoes. Tom is on the right and Gloria is on the far left.
As you have probably already guessed, Gloria has a very green thumb. One of her specialties is dahlias. Every flower in this photo is a dahlia. I am even thinking of trying some at home. Now I’m going to show you some more photos of dahTlias.
Well, folks, more flowers and more blog later. We are having a wonderful time here at Tom and Gloria’s. They have been so gracious to us. I have enjoyed meeting new family members, looking through old photo albums, etc. Today they gave us a tour of downtown Seattle and the Public Market, but more on that and lots of other stuff will be coming up as soon as I can find the time.
