Aug. 19: Downtown Seattle

097

We took another ferry into the city.  Since Southworth is technically located on a peninsula, we were able to drive back home, although it was quite a distance compared to taking the ferry.096Heading into the big city where there was lots of traffic098

This was our destination, a huge open-air market that sells everything from fresh fish and fruit to flowers.  I could have spent a week going through here.  I hope I get to go back someday.100122099

101There was  seafood of all kinds.102106

103Even in Alaska, everyone said that alder wood is the best for smoking salmon.107

Here’s another bunch of salmon with a red snapper in front.  We have snappers in the Gulf of Mexico, but the limit is two.124Even outside it was very busy.112

Street musicians were all around.  This group was playing what I would call “mountain music”.125

This guy was amazing!  126He could play the guitar and hoola hoop at the same time!114

A hungry bunch.  Time to think about lunch.053We ate fish and chips and clam chowder at Lowell’s.  The clam chowder was just about the best thing I ever ate!!!!133
